Our Mission
Founded in 1901, The Savoy Company is a Philadelphia-based 501(c)(3) non-profit theatrical organization that strives to promote community involvement and educational outreach while supporting eligible local charitable organizations through its annual production of one of thirteen extant works by Sir W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur S. Sullivan.
Savoy’s membership represents a diverse group of volunteers drawn from the Greater Philadelphia area. We are committed to putting on the highest quality theatrical productions and sharing the artistic, musical, and cultural influences of Gilbert and Sullivan and their wonderful comic operas.
The Company offers opportunities for personal growth and community reinvestment for its members, beneficiaries, and audiences. Uniquely, virtually all operations are delegated to and performed by committees and production staff consisting of Company members. Committee chairs and production staff are appointed each season by the sitting President. The committee chairs are responsible for directing and coordinating all efforts within the responsibility of their respective committees. In this way, members are afforded an opportunity to share their unique skills both as performers & production staff as well as in their careers and endeavors outside of their responsibilities within the Company.
